2005 Jan 03 - Rusedski v Federer in Qatar

Greg Rusedski's reward for his effortless 6-3 7-5 defeat of Czech Jan Hernych in the first round of the Qatar Exxon Mobil Open is a second round match against the unstoppable Roger Federer.

The Swiss dismissed Spaniard Davis Ferrer 6-1 6-1 in yet another display of dominance. There is no doubt the British No.2 will have to be on top of his game if he is to compete with the world No.1.

Greg said:

"I'm still excited about 2005. It is great to be healthy. I worked very hard during the off-season and it's paying off."

After the match Roger Federer revealed he has joined forces with a new coach, Australian Tony Roche

Roger said:

"It's good to know that there will be help there because I need someone to analyse and help improve my game.

"I have no clue what I would do (without him). It's a relief that there will be help at times when I want it."

Tony will be providing part-time coaching and support, similar to the arrangement Paul Annacone has with Tim Henman.
