Level 2 Self-Employed Coach - Portsmouth Indoor Tennis Centre, Hampshire & Isle Of Wight
Rate of Pay
To be discussed during interview
Job Description
The Portsmouth Tennis Academy has capacity for a committed and reliable coach to join the team from early September 2018, although an earlier commencement during our summer holiday programme would be welcomed. The applicant would be offered hours across all tennis activities at the Centre, covering weekday mornings and evenings as well as weekend mornings - working as part of a close knit team, with an opportunity to lead sessions dependent upon previous experience. We anticipate an offer of between 10 to 15 hours per week initially.
Significantly, there is an opportunity for the applicant to deliver private lessons on either our four indoor or five outdoor (floodlit) astroturf courts. With a regular stream of enquiries and requests for coaching, there is a prospect of building a sizeable personal portfolio of clients - including individuals (adults or juniors) within any of our group sessions.
Overview of Venue
Portsmouth Tennis Academy has been operating at this location for many years, providing an inclusive and successful programme across all ages and abilities. Activities range from pre-school classes, cardio tennis and adults coaching to junior performance. We have enjoyed significant success at county and regional level with our junior Aegon teams; a number of our players have either competed on the British tour or have secured a sports scholarship into the US College system.
The Academy is closely associated with several local schools and is located at the heart of the Portsmouth University campus, with which we also share a strong linkage. Over recent years we have forged a particularly vibrant affiliation with the Gomez Tennis Academy in Bonita Springs, Florida; a large number of our young players have enjoyed life-changing visits to this world class academy, and there are opportunities for our coaches to likewise travel to Florida in order to enhance their own coaching experience.
It is intended to introduce some changes and fresh initiatives to our curriculum when the new school term commences in early September. This vacancy offers the opportunity to engage immediately with a new look programme.
