Job Description
Bristol City Council (BCC) are seeking a proactive operator to run and manage the tennis operation in three parks in Bristol. The income generation is based on the model of selling 'annual per household access' and specific courts on a pay and play per hour basis. Each tennis court site will be refurbished and fitted with gate PIN Pad access control linked to the LTA ClubSpark Booking Platform.
The successful organisation will have responsibility for managing access, bookings, revenue generation and courts use. This will include day to day maintenance of the courts and the option to run 'in house' or 'outsource' coaching provision.
The successful organisation will be responsible for marketing and promote the tennis offer to the public in Bristol. The successful operator will be expected to work closely with BCC and LTA products, programmes and initiatives to increase the number of people participating in tennis. The contract will be for a period of five years with the opportunity for a further three years by agreement.
Overview of the Venue
Bristol City Council is the unitary local authority of the City of Bristol serving a population of 449,300. The council owns 36 tennis courts across parks in public green spaces in the city and has included 15 in this tendering process. The courts are undergoing refurbishment to playing surfaces and moving from free to use to a charged model.
Person Specification
The successful organisation must adhere to as many of the following person specifications:
Ambitious in continue to develop a tennis business on the parks in Bristol
Experience in management of tennis facilities / tennis business.
Enthusiastic and passionate for the game of tennis and its development in the community.
Management skills in relation staff either administrative or coaching delivery.
Self-motivated to run and manage the tennis courts to a high standard.
Meeting, Presentation, Financial and record keeping experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills to work in conjunction with the project partners (e.g. BCC/LTA)
The successful applicant will be expected to (not exhaustive):
To manage and promote court bookings / court usage to all local people.
Provide a coaching / delivery programme that meets needs of local people.
The link effectively with local schools and community organisations.
Provide some free tennis as part of lead generation activities (e.g. Court Offers)
Work in close conjunction with BCC / LTA to measure and monitor the court usage.
Manage and co-ordinate a coaching team to deliver the programmed activity.
Develop competitive tennis across all abilities on the park sites.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) will include:
Measuring, Year on Year increases of court bookings and court occupancy
Number of individuals attending coaching programmes.
Revenue Generation and Financial Measures.
The delivery of appropriate products and programmes.
