2005 Mar 26 - Henman into third round

Tim Henman eased past Czech Ivo Minar 6-3 7-5 to reach the third round of the NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami.

Tim was handed a bye into the second round but he probably didn't expect such a competitive match from the 20-year-old Czech qualifier.

With just one break of serve in each set, it was the greater experience of the British No.1 which ensured he made the decisive points count.

After the match Tim said:

"I kept my mind focused on what I was trying to do. It was good."

In the third round Tim will need to negotiate the ever-dangerous Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela. Tim holds a 3-2 win/loss record against Juan and has won both their previous two matches.

Tim added:

"[Chela] is someone that I've had some good success against.

"But he is one of these guys that if you're not quite on your game, then he can start to dictate.

"So it's clear-cut. I know the way that I need to play. He knows the way that I want to play. I know the way he wants to play. It comes down to who is going to be able to."
