2005 Feb 22 - Henman v Rusedski in Dubai
Tim Henman recovered from match point down to defeat compatriot Greg Rusedski 4-6 7-6(6) 6-4 in the
Dubai Duty Free Men's Open.
Set 1: In a close set it was Greg who earned the only break in the ninth game - it was all he needed
to secure the opener.
Set 2: The set went with serve until 6-5 when Greg was presented with a match point after a double-fault
by Tim. Tim recovered and then forced a tie-breaker which he eased 8-6.
Set 3: Another tight set which appeared to be heading for another tie-breaker until a mistake by Greg at the
net at 3-3 led to a break-point which Tim unduly pounced on. Greg's racket slamming reaction to the
error led to a warning from the umpire. A composed Tim Henman held his next two service games to see out the match.
After the match Tim said:
"You just take it point by point when you're fighting to stay in the match.
"I had to keep playing aggressively and competing to get a chance.
"I now have to recover in time for the next match because the body doesn't recover as quick as it used to,
especially after two hours and 40 minutes."
In the second round Tim will face Russian Igor Andreev - it will be the first meeting between the two players.
