David Sherwood is the surprise name in the Great Britain Davis Cup squad to face Israel in Tel Aviv on the 4-6 March.
The 24-year-old from Sheffield has been making big strides over the past year with Futures wins in both Wrexham
and Edinburgh, a finalist in Plaisir (France) and a semi-finalist in Mulhouse. And it is this consistency which
has let to a world ranking of 264.
Jeremy Bates (British Davis Cup Captain) said:
"David has earned his place in this squad on the merit of his form and results over the last 12 months.
"We are looking forward to the tie. The squad are all in excellent form."

And there was a surprise recall of Arvind Parmar ahead of Alex Bogdanovic - who will also be travelling

"It is a boost to have Greg available for the tie.
"His wealth of experience is invaluable, particularly to the younger players and I know he will lead by example."
Of the forthcoming Europe/Africa zone tie, he added:
“We are very much looking forward to this tie against Israel. The squad are all in excellent form and I believe
we have an exciting blend of experience and youth.
Above all this is an excellent opportunity for the next
