2005 Feb 15 - Henman through in Rotterdam

Tim Henman cruised to a 7-5 6-4 straight sets victory over German Nicolas Kiefer in his opening match of the World Tennis event in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

After the match Tim said:

"I knew I had to come out and play at a very high level and that's what I did. I'm very pleased with my performance.

"I just happened to play the quality shots at the right time.

"It's never going to be easy in a tournament like this, but I'd like to get into the final and win it.

"I really struggled in December and couldn't do the training.

"I feel this is really the start of my season as I was able to play almost pain free for the first time this year."

In the second round Tim will face the Frenchman Michael Llodra who he has defeated in both their previous encounters.
