2005 Jan 14 - Henman defeated by Federer

Tim Henman crashed in straight sets 6-4 6-2 to Roger Federer in semi-final of the Kooyong Classic exhibition, ending his hopes of reaching the final.

With one match still to play in the round-robin tournament - against Spaniard Gaston Gaudio - Tim will still be able to ensure he obtains sufficient match practive before the start of the Australian Open.

After the match today Tim said:

"It was another important stepping stone in being ready and raring to go come Monday or Tuesday.

"It is important to get out there in a match environment in these types of conditions.

"You would like to win these matches but I am really happy with the way things have progressed since I have been here."

Andre Agassi has enlisted the help of Tim Henman to play a practice match in order to determine whether his fitness will allow him to play in the Australian Open. Andre had to withdraw from the Kooyong Classic due to a hip injury.
