2005 Jan 09 - Henman prepared for Australia
Tim Henman has recovered from recent back problems and is now preparing for competition in Australia. His
first challenge will be the Kooyong Classic in Melbourne starting on the 12 January followed by the Australian
Open which starts on the 17 January.
The British No.1 said:
"I was worried my back might stiffen up coming out here but it seems to be fine.
"My focus now is to try and get used to the conditions.
"I worked pretty hard on my physical conditioning in December but it will still take a while to get used to the heat.
"But I enjoy testing myself and getting the best out of my body at the beginning of the year here in
Australia is a real challenge, but that's why I play the game."
With impressive performances to reach the semi-finals in both Roland Garros and the US Open in 2004, and
multiple semi-finals at Wimbledon, the Australian Open is currently Tim's least popular Grand Slam
event as he has never gone further than the forth round.
