2004 May 21 - R.Garros: Henman & Rusedski draws
The first round draws for Roland Garros have been announced and it is relatively good news for
the British No.1 and No.2.
Tim Henman will be up against the Frenchman Cyril Saulnier who may have clay court experience
but cannot be described as anything more than a journeyman tennis player. They have met once before,
on the grass courts of Queen's Club in 2003, where Tim won 6-7 6-3 6-3 having dropped the first set
in a tie breaker before asserting his authority to take the match comfortably.
Greg Rusedski may have a more difficulty with Spaniard Fernando Verdasco but probably more to do with
his own form than any serious threat from the inexperienced 20-year-old who is set to play in
his first ever Roland Garros tournament. Greg and Fernando have not played each other before. As both
players are left-handed this should be an interesting contest.
Tim and Greg would eventually meet in the quarter-finals should they both progress through the early
