2004 Mar 03 - Guillermo Coria is backing Rusedski

Greg Rusedski has the support of Argentinean tennis star Guillermo Coria in the quest to clear his name after testing positive for the banned substance nandrolone.

Unlike anyone else who has rallied to his support, Guillermo knows exactly what Greg is going through having been banned for seven months as a result of a positive test for nandrolone in 2002.

Guillermo said:

"I hope he comes out of it as I know what he's experiencing."

"It affected me very badly and it was hard to get over it.

"When I was suspended a lot of players didn't think I had a long enough ban.

"It's difficult for me because players are rallying around Greg and they didn't rally round me."

There has been much ill-feeling towards Argentinean players since Guillermo tested positive. In particular, Belarus player Vladimir Voltchkov has apparently claimed that if every Argentinean tennis player were to take a drug test they would all test positive.

Of this apparent comment from Vladimir, Coria said:

"If he said that we may sue."
