2003 Dec 23 - Henman decision backed by Sampras

Tim Henman received a vote of approval from legend Pete Sampras over the choice of his new coach Paul Annacone. As we all know, Paul was Pete's coach for many years and his influence can be attributed to the numerous Grand Slam titles picked up by the American.

Sampras said:

"It is a good call for Tim to work with Paul. He will help mentally and strategy-wise."

"Maybe Paul can help Tim win Wimbledon but ultimately it is up to Tim."

Christmas may be here but Tim has been training hard in preparation for the new season with his coach.

Tim said:

"It's been great to have my new coach Paul over here in London over the last couple of weeks."

"I've been training as hard as ever and I'm really pleased with the way it's been going." "It's always a very hectic time of year but my priority has been my training, both on and off the court, and the last few days have been very rewarding.

"It will be nice to spend some time with my family over Christmas and I'll continue my training until I leave for Doha on 1st January."

Happy Christmas Tim!
