2003 March 23 - Henman plays doubles at Nasdaq-100
Tim Henman will play in the men's doubles event at the Nasdaq-100 Open in Miami.
As Tim was knocked out of the singles event by Nicolas Escude, his 4th defeat in 5 matches. He clearly feels that more
match practice is the order of the day after the long lay-off due to shoulder surgery.
The doubles partner of choice is Mahesh Bhupathi of India, and they will face the quality
partnership of Roger Federer and Max Mirnyi.
"I've used doubles in the past to play myself into form.
"Obviously it would be nice to get a few matches under my belt here. I've got a very
clear picture of exactly what I need to work on so I'm looking forward to it.
"Of course it's easier to perform well when there is very little pressure in practice.
"Making the transition to the match court is the tough bit and obviously the most important.
"I think I've been going for too much on my first serve, maybe looking for a few too many cheap points.
"As a result, my first serve percentage has been too low and my opponents have been getting a
look at too many second serves and taking advantage of that."
