2003 February 18 - Henman defeated in Dubai
Tim Henman lost to little known Hungarian Attila Savolt in the first round of the Dubai Duty Free Open. This was
Tim's second consecutive defeat since returning to competitive tennis following a shoulder operations 3 months ago.
Having won the first set, the match seemed to hinge on a second set tie-break which Tim lost. The momentum had
swung and Savolt made the most of it to break Tim in the third set. The result was 5-7 7-6 (7-3) 6-4 in favour of
Savolt, who is not ranked in the world's top 100.
After the match Tim said:
"I had so many different feelings. It was just great to be out there again, playing every
point competitively and not thinking about my shoulder. But now I've lost a match like that
I feel really frustrated and disappointed."
"I say to myself I have to be patient. I can't hide my frustration at losing a dogfight,
but my shoulder feels really, really good and, if I keep doing the right things, results will come."
