2002 December 19 - Sampras up for Wimbledon 2003
Pete Sampras has no intention of retiring just yet, even though his carrer could have
finished on a high having won the US Open in 2002.
Instead, Pete is to skip the Australian Open due to lack of preperation time, and concentrate on the
French Open in May, Wimbledon in June, and the US Open in September.
Pete is a Wimbledon legend having won the Men's Singles tournament an amazing 7 times,
and so a shock 2nd Round in 2002 is something he wishes to put right.
He lost in 5 sets to George Bastl of Switzerland.
That said, we can be guaranteed a do-or-die attitude from Pete for Wimbledon 2003.
Pete told the LA Times that his preperation tournaments will be at home in the USA:
"I'll start in February in San Jose, and then go right from there to tournaments
in Scottsdale, Indian Wells and Miami."
Regarding the coming season, Pete says:
"I'm just going to see how it goes, just kind of ride the wave and see how far it takes me."
